To attract lots of visitors to your blogs and websites, there are many different strategies and techniques that you can use. And you really want to use as many of them as possible in order to bring as many potential customers to your sites as you possibly can.

So, here are 10 of the best ways that I use to generate more traffic to my sites. If it works for me and for the people that I learned these methods from … there is no reason that it shouldn’t work for you as well 😉

1. Writing Articles

Writing articles is a very effective way to generate traffic to your site. It’s a very popular way to get more traffic. Everyone should use this method. To be as successful as possible with this method you need to make sure every article holds value for the reader. Articles should be about 400-600 words long so that they are a quick read. Be sure to create a GREAT resource box that links back to your sites. Your resource box is the only place in your article you can actively promote yourself and what you want to offer. Therefore give some thought to what action you want your reader to take and you will be handsomely rewarded for providing value to the reader !!!

2.  Social Networking Sites

Social networking sites are a great way to generate traffic to your site too. A few of the leading social networking sites you should join are Twitter, FaceBook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Plaxo, PhotoBucket, Scribd, Squidoo, HubPages … there are MANY more. I love social networking sites because they allow you to put links to your sites as part of your profile. Another really cool thing is that you can actually keep all of your social sites updated at the same time by interlinking them !!!

3. I LOVE Blogs

Everyone should also write a blog or two. You want to update the blog as often as possible with fresh content and you want to include as much value in the blog posts as you can. Commenting on other people’s blogs is a GREAT way to be SOCIAL and pull a lot of traffic to your sites. It is also a way to create some GREAT back links to your sites. And the Alexa monster just LOVES lots of back link cookies !!!

4. Niche Forums

Forums are a powerful way to meet and network with other marketers, businesses and customers who are in your particular industry or niche. By building relationships and connecting with others, you have the potential to drive quite a bit of traffic to your site by providing relevant, helpful advice and participating in conversations with other people that have interests similar to yours. Creating a catchy signature file that links back to your sites is VERY effective !!!

5. Videos

People love to watch videos. Videos are popular and they will continue to grow in popularity. Even the simplest videos will draw viewers and you can direct those viewers right to your main sites by including that information right in the video and also as part of the video’s description.

6. Social Bookmarking

You should bookmark every single piece of content you put on the Internet. You will get visitors from the bookmarking site and you’ll also get a boost with the search engines thanks to the many backlinks that you’ll get. If you play the bookmarking game correctly, you will also get alot of OTHER PEOPLE bookmarking your information. You accomplish that by bookmarking other people’s content and not only your own. Remember… this is all about being social and giving value to other people!!!

7. Paid Advertising

You can also pay to advertise your site in any number of places, on other sites, different types of media, and even offline publications. Obviously this is one of the more expensive techniques to generate traffic to your site. But, if you do your due diligence and find the right place to advertise to your ideal market, the ROI can be very worthwhile.

8. PPC

PPC or pay-per-click is another way to generate traffic to your site. It’s another way that costs money too. But if you’re good at it, you will generate tons of traffic on demand with PPC. Google Adwords is getting pretty pricey these days. A very cost effective alternative is Facebook PPC. I also like Facebook advertising because you have the ability to really zero in on your ideal target market in a way that doesn’t exist with Adwords

9. Press Releases and Social Media Press Releases

You can also write traditional press releases and social media press releases to help generate traffic to your site. Just make sure you know how to write a press release and that you really have something to announce in the press release. A simple Google search for press release templates will give you plenty of options to choose from so that you can write an amazing traffic pulling release.

10. Website Directories

Getting listed website directories is also a big help in bringing more traffic back to your sites. There is a directory for every niche and industry imaginable. Make sure you take the time to get your site added to these sites.
